|Lero - University of Limerick|
Adjacent to and closely interacting with UL is the Irish National Technology Park, which is home to over 80 organisations employing over 4,000 people.
Moreover, UL is the leading partner in Lero, the Irish Software Engineering Research Centre. Lero was established in November 2005 with support from Science Foundation Ireland CSET (Centre for Science, Engineering and Technology) programme. It is a collaborative organisation, embracing the software engineering research activities in UL, Dublin City University (DCU), Trinity College Dublin (TCD) and University College Dublin (UCD). UL provides the National competency in Autonomics within Lero.
Role in ASCENS. UL-Lero will lead the research effort in work package 3 on knowledge representation and self-awareness and contribute to work package 1. Within ASCENS, we will lead the efforts in developing adequate knowledge representation models that are comprehensive enough to allow for self-awareness in SCEs. Our ultimate goal is to define mechanisms and techniques to simulate self-awareness in ensemble of self-aware robots and in self-aware research clouds.
